East Rutts
Diving
The East Rutts are an offshore formation of several pinnacles of limestone rock that descend to a depth of 40m and rise to within 8m of the surface. It can be likened to a smaller Hands Deep with the usual gullies and large boulders to hide from the tide, which can be fierce if slack is missed.
Football sea squirts seem to like this area as well as the usual sea life found at the offshore sites. Large Pollock are numerous as well as Bull-Huss and their smaller cousin’s dogfish. This site can be a second dive after the Persier or Maine.
